This is a high quality lithograph reproduction concert poster for the Yardbirds Concert at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in 1967, with Capt. Beefheart, Iron Butterfly and Moby Grape. The Yardbirds are noted for starting the careers of three of rock's most famous guitarists: Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck. They were pioneers in almost every guitar innovation of the '60s, and were one of the first to put an emphasis on complex lead guitar parts and experimentation. Clapton joined in 1963 and left in 1965 to be replaced by Beck. Page joins in 1966 and Beck leaves later that year leaving Page as the sole guitarist. This poster represents this Page-era Yardbirds, by this time managed by the notorious Peter Grant. The Yardbirds' lustre was dimming however, and the band eventually metamorphosed into Led Zeppelin, one of the greatest bands in rock. All from the Yardbirds illustrious beginnings. This poster is featured in the book 'The Art of Rock' p. 268 plate 3.49, and is a nice lithograph reproduction on heavy stock measuring approx. 12.5 x 19" and is in mint condition.
