Vintage Penn Gem 410

Penn Gem 410.
The only Penn reel that has the Penn name removed.
These reels had their parts made in Japan. They were assembled in Philadelphia. One of the Henze family had been captured and tortured by the Japanese military. He found out and forbid the sales of these reels. Later the reels were sold with the requirement that they not bear the Penn name.
The photo of the foot of the reel is hard to read but it says:
“Assembled by ——————-, from parts made in Japan.”
It was meant to read:
Assembled by Penn Reels, from parts made in Japan” the Penn name was ground off purposely per the contract between Penn and the purchasing company.
The history was told to me by the author of “the history of Penn reels” I left out much of the history of this reel because I didn’t know it verbatim.
There are 3 “Gem” reels 410, 420, 430.
The 410 is the hardest to find.
They are rare and don’t come up for sale often.
