    Description

From the area estate of a 92 year old woman who passed.  Parting with the music book shown, 1908 Die Walkure in German with a program glued inside the front cover with a signed inscription below by Isador Berger.  "To my friend Erwin Goerlitz, Isador Berger, Chgo, April 24, '38, In remembrance with sincere appreciation of your artistic assistance in the two programs.  There were two performances in Chicago in March and April and Goerlitz is written in one and noted in the second as playing the piano for Berger.  The book has toning, and a rough cover, and very rough spine with bottom missing, some looseness to cover making the book a little delicate.
Isador or Isadori Bergman was a violinist, collector and professor from Chicago.  He studied in Europe with the likes of August Wilhelmj, Emile Sauret and Cesar Thomson.  He was a member of King Albert's Royal Court Orchestra in Brussels, the Chicago Symphony, Chicago Grand Opera Orchestra and the Chicago Civic Opera Orchestra as well as concertmaster of the Chicago Philharmonic.  In 1911, he became a faculty member of the Chicago Musical College.  He is noted for owning several Stradivari violins over his career including the Antonio Stradivari Cremona 1700 called the Berger.
