Description
This pattern is based off the Dear Jane quilt owned by the museum in Bennington, Vermont. While living in Vermont, Jane A. Blakely Stickle constructed the quilt during the time of the Civil War and finished it in 1863. It is hand pieced, hand appliqued and machine quilted.Top setting is constructed of 13 rows and 13 columns of 169 individual unique and different 5" finished sized blocks with 1/2" sashing between the locks. The border is approximately 7" of triangles or ice cream cone shaped blocks around all four sides, with larger wedges in each corner.
Per appraisal "Excellent visual impact, a true scrap bag effect. Quilts constructed like these hold a snapshot in time, of the types of fabrics, popular today. These quilts become family heirlooms handed down through generations."
