  • Condition: Antique completely hand stitched beautiful log cabin quilt top. Top is approximately 66 inches wide by 76 inches long. Top is constructed of 168 clean all new/old cotton 5 1/2 inch squares (12 squares wide by 14 squares long). The top has no damage or stains and has not been laundered. Cotton strips range from less than 1/2 in wide to a little more than 1/2 in wide. Each block is backed with unused random cotton blocks. Note fine stitching patterns and tiny seams. 8 of the quilt block backs have damage. See pictures. Quilt top made by Mrs. Phyllis Latta of Durham, NC. An amazing amount of work in each block. Would be a Great Wall decoration also. Top may have been deaccesstioned by a museum. Note number on corner tag. This top can be easily repaired and will last for another hundred years.

    Description

    A fabulous quilt top, 66 inches wide, 76 inches long. Made up of 5 1/2 inch squares—12 blocks wide by 14 blocks long, totaling 168 squares. Completely hand stitched; top is new/old stock all cotton multi colored old prints that have not been laundered. Block strips are a little less than a half inch wide and some a little more than a half inch wide. The quilt top has no breaks in seams, and no damage or stains. Quilt top may have been deaccessioned from a museum. Note paper tag with name of person from Durham NC and number R-2. The back is made up of all cotton blocks. 8 of the back blocks are damaged (mostly small holes but two or three are very worn. See pictures. Top would look great hung on a wall. An amazing amount of work was done on each block. Seams very tiny and all hand stitched. Good quality cotton was used to make top. Top should last another hundred years. Top worth time and labor to finish.
