    Description

    Autographed and first edition, third issue of the biography of the legendary African American concert tenor and his Mother, 1942.  The book is autographed by Hayes, January 5, 1943 and the author MacKinley Helm.
    An excellent work documenting the life of Hayes Mother from his childhood (she was born a slave) and his career to this point.  It is told in an autobiographical format and is extremely scarce signed.
    No dust jacket, or mylar cover.
