    Description

You are looking at a Beautiful American Flag Rag Quilt.  This is a new quilt .These quilts look pretty draped on the bed or sofa or a chair. In the summer use on porch swing or hammock. The uses are many. This is a Rag Quilt. Rag quilts are very time consuming, first you cut out the pieces and the batting. Then you sew every square with a x. That is for the quilting process..3 Layers 2 cotton and 1 batting. The stars are appliqued on the front and back. create the Great Look. On a rag quilt one side of the quilt is all of the seams ragged and the other side looks like a finished quilt with ragging only on the outside border, but we did ours a little different and added a border all around so the one side is completely finished. The blue corner of the quilt has stars appliqued on the front and back. Then the stripes are done in a variety of patriotic and solids. Lots of variety. All of the squares on back are the prints as well. I have bordered the flag in a blue with stars and firework pattern fabric. The back is exactly the same except No ragging on the back. So could be used either side.
I love the look this way.. I use the ragged side for the front but you could use either side. The front and backs of our rag quilts do match. We don't use a solid color on the back of the rag quilts. The quilt has been made with all cotton fabric.. This is a Great size for a throw over the lap ,6 feet wide by 7  feet long. Great throw for those chilly evenings . I have started the ragging process with the first wash.. The first time or 2 that you wash will rag a little, gives it the ragged look. The quilt is machine wash and dry on gentle cycle Always use cold water and you can use color catchers in first couple of washes to keep colors bright and avoid any fading..As you probably know rag  quilts are extremely warm..This is very heavy and warm. The quilt has been made in a smoke free home. Thanks for looking.
