Racing an 800-horsepower, 215-mph projectile like the Nissan GTP ZX Turbo for hours on-end will teach you a thing or two about performance.
Things we've applied to the latest street-legal version.
The Nissan 300ZX Turbo.
For example, in the car on the right, you’ll find the most powerful Z engine ever, a 3.0-liter, turbocharged, fuel-injected overhead cam V6. The same basic engine that’s in the car on the left.
You’ll also find in the 300ZX a new, high-flow, low-inertia turbocharger that actually reduces lag — a common turbo complaint — by a spirited 40%.
Power rack-and-pinion steering, limited slip differential, and power four-wheel vented disc brakes are all standard.
Of course, we had to make a few concessions to driving in the real world. Like cut-pile carpeting instead of a bare aluminum floor pan.
Beyond that, we’ve added a six-way adjustable drivers seat: remote controls on the steering wheel; power windows, mirrors and door locks. And other Human Engineering touches that help keep you in total control of your environment.
Because, the way we see it, anything that takes away from your performance takes away from the car's performance.
And anything that does that just isn’t as much fun.
